WIll my multigym work?!?

i’m worrying!!! i don’t care if anything could do it better…but i just wanna know if it will help me strengthen up!

it has alot more to do with training than the equipment you use so the multigym will work just fine.

Is there consumer laws on treadmills? I bought one two years ago from sears and they dont have parts.?

I bought a RCT7.6 Horizon Fitness treadmill thats two years old. The LCD is cracked and needs to be replaced. Sears and Horizon don’t carry the part anymore because the model is discontinued. Is there a law that protects me on this?

No, there’s not. Neither the company or seller are required to carry any sort of spare parts for the machine. ALL that is required is that they either fix or replace the machine during the warranty period - which I’m guessing has long since expired.

Training Equipment - Treadmills

by Damyan Lagina

An exercise treadmill machine is a device designed for walking or running while indoors and without actually leaving the place. The machine consists of a special moving platform that is powered by a flywheel or an electric motor. The rear movement of the belt allows the person who trains to run or walk at an equally opposing speed, which means that the speed of the belt is the speed with which you work out.

Controlling and measuring devices can thus be installed on the exercise treadmill machine, thus being able to monitor the number of burnt calories or the amount of effort involved. Besides the motor-powered version, there is also a mechanical exercise treadmill that is powered by the movement of the user who pushes the belt when running or walking. The choice of design depends on the user’s requirements and the location where it is meant to be used.

The motor driven exercise treadmill models are definitely more expensive and a lot heavier too. These are usually found in professional gyms or special physiotherapy clinics. For home use, many people prefer the less costly lightweight alternative of the simple machine version powered by the motion force of the user alone.

In the early days of the invention, the exercise treadmill served for the reformation of incarcerated criminals, at the beginning of the 19th century. It was one hundred and fifty years later that the exercise treadmill started being used in medical centers and hospitals for the diagnosis of people who suffered from lung and heart disease. The exercise treadmill and bike became more popular after 1968 when they were scientifically proved great for cardiovascular training.

The health benefits resulting from the training with an exercise treadmill are similar to all the other cardio workouts: the alleviation of health problems, a better health condition and an improvement of the heart rate. Constant training with an exercise treadmill enhances physical endurance while eliminating the strain in ankles, knees and lower back.

Limitations and advantages generally characterize the use of an exercise treadmill. People who use such a machine for weight loss have the chance of monitoring the heart rate and the amount of calories they burn. Furthermore, the slope and the speed can be adjusted depending on the needs. Even so, keep in mind the fact that no matter how high an exercise treadmill is rated, it cannot stand a real comparison with outdoor running or walking. The lack of ground contact and the indoor use have their impact on the condition of the trainee and the quality of the activity.

Which one is better, and elliptical machine or exercise bikes?

Which one is better to lose fat and burns more calories?
Overall, which one gives u a better workout?

Thanks to everyone:)

The one that will be better for you is the one that you will use regularly - Both will burn calories and help you lose weight, but the real question is: which one will you use? I personally prefer a recumbent bike, I find that I will use it for longer periods of time than the others.

Pick the one that you know you will commit to regular workouts.

Can 13 year olds go to gyms such as Bally Total Fitness would they even allow them to go on the treadmills?

My daughter is asking me if she can go to the gym with me. But I don’t know if they would allow her to go workout on the treadmills with me?

Yes, you are allowed to go to w/e you want, its just when you take your card, if you are not 18, your parents would have to sign up for you, so they would be the owners of the contract, but you are freely allowed to use any machine in there

Do you need the Proform Treadmill as your Fitness Treadmill

by Petr Van Hickson

The Proform Treadmill is geared for those who are looking for a decent price and durability mixed into one. A person needs to know the ins and outs about how to go about buying a good fitness treadmill if they want to get a good deal. Plus, you also want the best features available. The Proform line is considered to be one of the most popular brands on the market today.

First thing everyone should do is rate the treadmills. Keep in mind you’re not rating it based on other people’s standards, you’re rating them on what you want out of a fitness treadmill. So, take a pad and paper and think about everything that should be on your treadmill. You will want to know more about the weight capacity, length of the strides, the width, the motor, the warranty, the noise level, if it’s easy to use, whether it has good directions, and all kinds of other options. Keeping track of all these will help you narrow down the choices until you have the perfect fitness treadmill for your home.

The Right Treadmill choice for years of running!

Everyone wants to purchase a treadmill that is going to last a lifetime, but you have to consider all kinds of things to make that happen. Whether it’s the ease of the treadmill, how hard or easy it will be to understand everything that is offered, and even if it’s going to be the right fit for your personal needs. See, the idea is to get a good workout, and the best way to do that is by having user-friendly controls.

The biggest thing is you want to customize the machine for you. Just like you would when picking out a car. Sure the standard traits are necessary, but there may be a few extras you need along the way. For instance, if you need to stay indoors when it’s hot, then you’re looking for an indoor treadmill that is better for walking and light jogging. Then again, if you’re young and workout everyday, a heavy-duty treadmill is more your speed.

Obviously there are things you’re going to be taking advantage of during your workout. We recommend always measuring your heart rate, check the calories being burned, keep track of the time and distance, and make sure the weight capacity is fit to you and your family’s needs. Oh, and for those of you hikers and individuals who enjoy the outdoors, a good fitness treadmill will have an incline. It’s actually great for people who have joint, bone, and heart problems who need to walk slower, but still want a good workout.

You’ll find that the Proform treadmill comes in 10 different models, each with their own unique appeal. It’s important to look at each one because they will offer various pricing, weight capacity, motor strength, and even extras like the CoolAire Workout Fan, iPod music port, and Clearview Backlit Display. Obviously a lot of this will depend on you, but it’s probably important to get a quiet fitness treadmill as well. Then of course the walking speeds, degrees of difficulty for the inclines and what type of goals you plan on accomplishing with your Proform line.

Since motor strength is important, the Proform line comes with various ones for each machine. You can choose from the Endura 2.25 HP, Endura 2.8 motors as well as 2.25 CHP Commercial motors that range from 2.25 to 3.0 CHP motors. Just remember that it’s not always about the power, and more about your own needs.

Helping you make the best informed decision before you purchase you first or tenth tredmill is what I designed this site for. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to send me an email or even better, subscribe to my Treadmill Bits newsletter for the latest info Treadmills.

What’s Better, Outdoor Running Or A Treadmill?

by Alex Gapper

Every time I get into a conversation with someone about how great treadmill training is there is always someone around who decides I’d better off if I did my running out in the fresh air. This argument sounds perfectly reasonable when you consider it on the surface but for some of us running outdoors is just not possible much of the time.

If you live in a part of the world where the weather restricts the amount of outdoor activities you can partake in then you’ll know that running outdoors isn’t a great idea for a percentage of the time. With the threat of extremely cold and wet weather conditions the idea of venturing outside is both unappealing and possibly dangerous as well.

This is not mention the fact that in many large cities running outside can be an unwise due to unsafe neighborhoods and terrible problems with the quality of air.

Even forgetting about all the possible reasons for not wanting to run outside, treadmills have positive advantages which make them an idea device to have in your house.

There may be times when it is not possible to leave the house but you really want to get a workout in. Maybe you have to wait in for a delivery or you need to watch the children.

On top of all this I also like the fact that with a treadmill in the house, even on those days when I really don’t feel like taking exercise I still manage to fit some in. On days like these I throw on my workout clothes and hop on the treadmill with the television on.

Distracted by the television I find it much easier to get into the workout always start to enjoy it once I get warmed up.

With all this in mind I still have to say that if this was an ideal world I would choose to run outdoors the majority of the time. I love using a treadmill and especially like the freedom it gives me to exercise when I want but there is a lot to be said for running in the fresh air on a sunny day.
