How To Chose Cardio Equipment

Have you ever wondered what piece of cardio equipment to use? The answer to that question differs depending on the physical goals and abilities of the the individual. A good answer to this question is that the ideal piece equipment the one that provides the most rewards while minimizing the risks.

Whats the first thing that pops in your head when someone mentions the word workout? The first thing that comes to my mind is big heavy iron plates thrown about with ease; by huge men in shirts that look to small for them. The second thing is the treadmill! The treadmill has been used and abused for many years. It is an excellent machine to help melt the fat from your body, if you can handle the high impact jarring of your back and joints. Severely obese people and those with certain physical limitations will have an extremely tough time using this piece of equipment. A slow walk at 0% incline would probably lead to a minimum of safety and pain issues; but would also lead to minimum progress towards your goals. After all, the main goal of a cardio workout is to get your heart rate up and maintain it for a desired amount of time.

There are two ways to increase the efficiency of working on a treadmill. One is by increasing the rate of speed at which the exercise is done at. You can start by jogging or running. Jogging and running are very potent exercises when it comes to calorie burning; but both of them put a great deal stress on the knees and lower back. The unconditioned, injured and severely obese should use caution when running or jogging because it is extremely hard on the joints, bones and connective tissue. Secondly, treadmill work can be increased in intensity by increasing the percentage of grade the machine is set at. This becomes the equivalent of walking up hills or mountains outside. Incline treadmill walking is an effective calorie and fat burner but it can be problematic for people with lower back, knee or foot issues. As you can see the treadmill has its positives and negatives. Using this as your main type of cardio will depend on any limiting factors due to injuries and initial endurance levels you have.

Stationary bikes are another common piece of cardio equipmant being used at gyms today. Stationary cycling has the same pros and cons as riding a bike outside (with the exception of crashing!). I believe cycling is more beneficial than jogging and running because you can burn a lot of calories without the high impact pounding to the knees and back that you get from jogging and running. To a lesser degree however; there is some stress to the knees and back that is generated by intense cycling also.

I highly recommend elliptical machines for cardio work, due to their non-impact nature and large range of motion. You can vary the ramp, resistance and speed to target the largest lower body muscles without straining the spine or joints. It is possible to really crank up the intensity level of your training with very low risk of injury. In my opinion the elliptical machine is by far the safest and most versatile piece of cardio equipment out there. That being said; get out there and get fit!.

Treadmill…Be Gone!

by Amelia Handley

Treadmills are supposed to be there to enable people to walk or run for exercise in a convenient, safe way that many people really enjoy. But then there are the rest of us that get all dressed up in our running clothes, put on the sneakers and then just can’t make ourselves do it. Instead the treadmill ends up tucked behind the bedroom door or serving as a sun screen so you can sleep in on Saturdays or serving as a landing spot for all your discarded clothing.

Treadmills are quite easily (and very often) ignored. So…what if you found a diet that said that was exactly what they wanted you to do? What if there were a diet out there that required you to use your treadmill for anything…just NOT running? Most would say that was utterly fabulous.

It just might be. When individuals looking to lose those last, stubborn, 10 pounds find HCG most are absolutely ecstatic that the program requires them to cease any rigorous physical training schedules while on the diet. (The diet itself is so effective that adding an additional expenditure of calories is not necessary, not recommended and actually discouraged).

The HCG diet was introduced over 50 years ago by Dr. Simeon as a cure for obesity. Of course, the fact that it only recently became general knowledge means that it hasn’t been able to cure obesity; instead obesity has been running rampant in today’s society. But now that HCG is available to the public (and not just elite groups) it just might be able to make a big difference in benefiting those who find their weight is affecting their health or disrupting their lifestyle.

So the popularity of HCG is not a surprise to those who have seen the results. The average dieter loses a pound a day on the diet. And the average dieter successfully manages to make it through the maintenance period without gaining any weight back. And the average dieter continues to function in a healthy manner post HCG without returning to unhealthy weights.

So if you find yourself imaginatively (or unimaginatively) ignoring the treadmill, but you still want to lose that last 10 pounds that you can’t seem to get off no matter what you do you might have another option. Look at homeopathic HCG drops. They are easily accessible online with all the tools and information needed to succeed.

Treadmill Mat May Be the Most Important Accessory

by Matt Traylor

There are expensive treadmills with all the best features you can imagine, and even some you can’t, and then there are budget lines of treadmills that barely have a handful of workout programs. But regardless of how much or how little the treadmill cost you, you can buy as many useless accessories as you like. Of course, you could also buy some very useful accessories, such as a treadmill mat, that are well worth your money.

A home repair kit can come in handy when small problems start turning up through the aging of your treadmill. It is a good way to learn a little about the basics of your machine while saving money doing some easy fixing yourself.

The only limitation of a repair kit is that it is only good for minor problems. It is important that you take your machine in for a professional if it requires major work. But the upside is that most treadmills will come with adequate warranty to cover any mechanical or parts failure.

It is crucial that you keep the treadmill clean so it will endure the lifetime of operation it was built for. Keeping the treadmill free of debris build up will go a long way to avoiding certain problems that frequently plaque machines.

A cleaning kit specially packaged for treadmills is available and typically comes with a brush and application wand, as well as the required cleaning solution. There will also be some form of instruction manual on how to do some basic maintenance cleaning.

Lubrication is important for the motor. Just the same as with any major moving part, lubrication helps to protect the motor and allows it to work smoothly. Most problems with the motor start with neglecting and allowing a motor to go without proper lubrication.

Now the most important thing that you should get with a treadmill, even if you get nothing else, is the treadmill mat. The reason for this is that it offers so much to the well-being of your treadmill. It helps to absorb shock that will reverberate back from the floor. And if you think carpet is enough to absorb the shock, carpet actually releases a lot of loose particles that can go up the insides and cause mechanical problems. A treadmill mat prevents that from happening.

On the flip side to the mat, you can also get a treadmill cover. It is similar to the covers for cars but for your treadmill. The cover will keep the dust and anything else from landing on and messing with the cleanliness of your treadmill from top to bottom.

Everyone has particular specifications they want for their treadmills but most of these are well worth the money for anyone who wants to keep the treadmills functional for the duration of their useful life.
